My day in the NICU!

Unfortunately, today was the last day of my pediatric rotation, but it ended great! I was in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and it was awesome! I had been looking forward to this area the most and it didn't disappoint. I loved every minute of it. I was in the "Feeders and Growers" room, where the babies are getting better and about ready to go home. They are just learning to bottle feed and gaining more weight in order to be strong enough to go home. Anyway, the babies were adorable and I loved taking care of them. One of the babies I took care of was only 4 pounds! Which is actually on the bigger side, if you can believe it! He was so cute and I got to hold him most of the day (which if you know me at all you know that I was thrilled about that). The NICU is definitely somewhere I could see myself working in the future. I think I would be really happy there. Although, our next rotation is Labor & Delivery, which I'm really excited about too! Hopefully it will be a great experience as well!
