getting out of the house...

At work, I'm generally hesitant to take Asher and Braedon anywhere besides the park since I only have two hands and I'm not too courageous. Hence, the boys and I have been feeling a little cooped up being in the house all day. This leads the boys to find silly things to do with their time. Case in point:Climbing into baskets!

Well, today we had a good opportunity to get out of the house and do something fun. Kelsey, a friend from the ward, invited us to go to the Irvine Spectrum (an outdoor mall) to get some cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory (each slice was only $1.50 in celebration of their anniversary!). Since that mall has some fun water fountains for the kids to play in, I decided it would be fun to take Asher and Braedon. Camille (another friend from the ward, who also watches the boys) was gracious enough to offer some help on our little crusade. So, we piled all the kids in the car and off we went!
Braedon, Sydney (Camille's daughter), and half of Asher. As you can see, Braedon has mastered waving! It was cute seeing all three of them in the backseat together!
The kids waiting patiently in the very hot sun for us to get our cheesecake. They were surprisingly well behaved! I love how Braedon is leaning back with his leg up like that. I think he was trying to be cool in front of Sydney. :)
He's really showing off now! Trying to get her attention by flexing his muscles.
"Watch, Sydney. I can yell really loud! Cool, huh?"
Sydney isn't impressed easily.
But Braedon wouldn't take no for an answer. "Hey Sydney, over here! Look at me!"
"I'm gonna getcha!"
"Argh. I give up."
Oh, but wait! It looks like persistence paid off! Aww, young love.
"Please, no more pictures!"
Home at last and ready for a nap...
It was so fun to get out and do something new. Thanks for inviting us Kelsey! And it wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be (thanks to Camille's help!). I think I'm going to try and get out more often!

earthquakes are SCARY!

I just experienced my first BIG California earthquake. (I felt one a few years back but it was tiny.) The whole apartment started shaking and I was freaking out. I didn't know what to do! I remember learning in elementary school to get in a door jam but that just seemed silly at the time. How the heck would a door jam help if two stories came down on top of me?! Luckily that didn't happen and everything is fine. We all came out alive. Whew. I don't ever want to go through that again.

Here's the story...

P.S. Dear Family,

If this happens again, and we're not so lucky - I just want you to know that I love you.

dreams are a wish your heart makes...

I have many dreams, most of which are unrealistic (which was made quite clear by the hubbs), but a couple of them might actually be attainable...

One of my dreams: be a photographer. Nothing fancy, just as a hobby... I LOVE taking pictures, mostly of babies and children, and I think it would be really fun to buy a professional digital camera and take a few classes. Just for kicks and giggles. Maybe it could actually turn into something more. You never know. Although, I do think I have a keen eye for cuteness...

Wouldn't you agree? (Look at those cute bums!)

Another dream: open up a baby boutique. It all started when Emery (my niece) was born. For a baby gift, I made her a few things - a blanket, onsies, burp cloths, pacifier clips, bracelets, etc. (to see pictures click here.) Last week I made her some more onsies (she grew out of the first ones), a few hair clips and a hooded towel. Adri was nice enough to send me some pictures.

Emery is the perfect model, she makes all the stuff look so much cuter! And I love all of her facial expressions... "My mommy calls me this. She's very smart."

"It's true. I've got him wrapped right around my little pinkie."

"Seriously, mom. How many more of these do I have to try on?"

"Ok... I guess I kind of like this one!"

"My silly daddy calls me this. But I let it slide since I am a daddy's girl."

e is for... emery!

"We're done now, right mom?"

Making all this baby stuff is so fun! And there are quite a few girls in my ward who do it too. (That's who I learned it from - thanks Megan!) And I think it would be really fun to put all of our things together and open up a boutique. Maybe one day it will happen. I can only dream...

twilight comedy!

For those of you who have read the Twilight books, I have something hilarious for you to read:
Trust me, you won't regret reading it!

Also, in celebration of the upcoming release, he's doing a spoof on Breaking Dawn which is equally funny. Here's the first one:
Enjoy! (And, you're welcome!)
P.S. Stephenie Meyer will be on Good Morning America this Thursday. Just thought I'd let you know in case you're like me and totally obsessed with anything involving twilight and/or Stephenie Meyer. Jeremy keeps pressuring me to write a book that will make millions. HA! I wish!

SYTYCD Top 8

Surprisingly, I enjoyed almost all of the dances this week. All but this one:It's painful to watch Comfort attempt any style other than hip hop. I'm so glad she's finally gone. And I wasn't heartbroken when Will left either. But next elimination is going to be hard. I don't want to see any of these people leave:Can't wait for Wednesday!

teaching + me = anxiety

It's my turn to teach Relief Society again this Sunday and I'm so nervous. The lesson is on Elder Holland's talk "My Words...Never Cease" It's a wonderful talk, but a tricky one to teach... I decided to watch it again last night and I'm glad I did. Elder Holland is amazing - his testimony at the end is so powerful. I wish I could just show the video in class. (I think it would be best coming from him.) Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible. So... I'll try my best and prepare like crazy, but I won't be able to do it alone. Please pray for me. I need all the help I can get!

twilight, again

As previously mentioned, I'm a bit frustrated with the inconsistencies between the book and (the short previews of) the movie. Fortunately, I came upon this clip that explains why there are so many differences. This makes me feel a little bit better...

I know, I know. I'm completely obsessed.

twilight teez

Twilight Teez is a website that sells t-shirts, hats and jewelry all about Twilight. This is the shirt I want... But there's no way I'm paying $18 dollars for it! It kind of seems silly but I bet they're making millions off all those die-hard Twilight fans!
P.S. Only TEN more days until Breaking Dawn!

back to work

It's so good to be back after my long week off. I missed my little buddies so much! They are so much fun and way too cute! I can't believe how fast they're growing up. I swear they learn something new every day! And I'm pretty sure they are getting cuter and cuter by the second. (If that's even possible!) Check out this cute video of Asher playing peek-a-boo. It's adorable.

They are such sweet boys and I just love 'em to pieces. I'm so grateful to have such a good job that I thoroughly enjoy. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Well... on second thought, I guess I would take a couple of my own... But until then, this is definitely the next best thing!

SYTYCD Top 10

This week was sad because all the couples were broken up and got new partners. However, there were still a few good dances. My favorites were...
Joshua and Courtney's Hip Hop routineand
Chelsie and Gev's Contemporary routine

It's too bad Gev got eliminated. I liked him. I also thought Comfort should have gone home before Kherington but I can't really complain because I didn't vote!

A new Twilight teaser!

They released another teaser trailer for Twilight! Click here to see it!

Crescent Bay

Since I have this week off I get to take advantage of some fun ward activities that I don't usually get to go to. Yesterday, we learned how to make hooded towels for babies. (I made one for Emery! It turned out super cute!) Today, we went to a beautiful beach called Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach.I carpooled with my friend Camille and her adorable daughter Sydney. It was fun getting to know people in the ward and spending time with friends. And tomorrow I'll get to do it all over again at the pool! It's nice to have some extra free time, but I also miss my little buddies. Although I'm sure they don't even realize I'm gone with all the fun they're having with family!

North Beach

Today I went to the beach with my friend Sara and her two cute boys, Bennett and Grayson. I'm not a huge fan of the beach but since I have the week off I thought it would be good to get out and do something fun! While we were there we got to see some dolphins... Grayson loves to eat! But he doesn't let a little thing like eating stop him from playing! He's so adorable, and such a little chunk! This is the only smile I could get from Bennett. He was too busy having fun!
Thanks for inviting me Sara, I had a great time! Let's do it again soon!

i'm confused

Could any of you Twilight readers please explain to me when these things happened in the book? Because I don't recall Bella and Edward ever being up in a tree, an unconscious Bella being carried by Edward in the rain, or any of them ever standing in the middle of a river. The inconsistencies between the book and the movie are really frustrating. And I've only seen a handful of pictures and about one minute in trailers. I have a feeling the movie is going to be difficult to watch. Hopefully I'll have forgotten enough of the details by then to enjoy it. If I can keep myself from rereading it by December...
Also, for those of you die-hard twilight saga fans (like me) check out http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/ where they will post a quote from Breaking Dawn for 21 days counting down to the release of the book on August 2nd.
Here's the first one:
Alice: "I'll play you for it. Rock, paper, scissors."
Edward: "Why you don't you just tell me who wins?"
Alice: "I do. Excellent."

Just reading these few lines gets me giddy for the book! I can't wait!

Project Runway

Season 5 premieres next Wednesday and I am beyond excited!

SYTYCD Top 12

In my opinion, this week's dances weren't as great as the past few weeks. I was kind of bored... However, I still love all of my favorites (Joshua & Katee, Courtney & Gev, Chelsie & Mark, Twitch & Kherington), it's not their fault if they get a crappy style and/or a crappy choreographer! But I think I may have too many favorites. They're going to start dropping like flies and it's going to be so sad! I think I'm going to have to narrow them down...

The Dentist.

It has been an embarrassingly long time since I've been to the dentist. I guess it's just one of those things - another necessary evil. But my teeth started hurting recently so I decided it was time to get it over with. I really wasn't looking forward to my appointment because I knew I had a cavity (or two) and it's always unnerving to go to a new place. You never really know what to expect. Well, come to find out everyone was really nice, the office was clean and new, and the dentist was very sweet and gentle. Surprisingly (or not), that still doesn't make it much better. I did end up having to get some fillings and it didn't really hurt, but it's the one time I wish I could suppress my senses. Everything from the sound of the drill and the smell it creates as it grinds down your teeth, to seeing this: makes me want to cringe. On top of that, you've got what feels like eight different instruments crammed in your mouth and down the back of your throat, all while trying to (painfully) keep your mouth open as wide as you can. And after all that, I'm still not done. I have to go back for my "deep clean" and go to an oral surgeon about my wisdom teeth. I can only guess what kind of torture that will be.

On a happier note, my sweet hubby came home from work and surprised me with some flowers(because I was having a bad day, not because of the fillings)
and some chocolate pudding!
(in case my teeth were hurting)
Thanks for being so sweet and thoughtful honey, I love you!
