Labor Day Weekend

My weekend started extra early when my mom flew in on Thursday for a visit! We were so excited to have her come stay with us. (Especially since she hasn't been for 3 years!) On Thursday, she was nice to enough to help me watch the boys and I was so glad she finally got to meet them. That night we went to the grocery store and before I knew it the whole cart was filled with yummy food that she generously payed for! (And we're still enjoying it now! Thanks mom!) Then we met up with Jeremy and went to a really great Mexican restaurant.
...
On Friday we went shopping and found some great stuff! My mom was really sweet and bought me some really cute new school clothes! Then we went to dinner at a really great Sushi restaurant, mom's treat! It was delicious! And for dessert, we took her to Cherry on Top for some frozen yogurt. Then we finished the night off with a movie at home. It was a great day!
...
On Saturday morning we got to do something I've been wanting to do for 3.5 years - learn how to make freezer jam with my mom! We had a great time and it turned out really good! Here we are with the finished product...
Later on that afternoon my mom and I went to Laguna Beach, where we did some more shopping and had dinner at a really great bistro (I can't remember the name). For dessert we had gelato in Peppertree Lane - the best I've ever had! Then I took her to see Montage beach. It's so gorgeous there and I knew she would love it. We arrived at the perfect time and got to watch the sunset, which was beautiful. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I tried to take a picture with my camera phone. It didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but if you put the two pictures together you get the idea!
On our way home from the beach we stopped at the grocery store where an unfortunate incident occurred. As we were walking out of Ralph's, a car full of very immature boys drove by and hit my mom in the back of the head with a water balloon! I have never had anything like that happen since we've been here and I feel so bad that she got hurt. I hope she feels better really soon. (Sorry again, mom!)
...
On Sunday morning we went to church and then had a delicious dinner (that was made primarily by my mom - she's a GREAT cook). Unfortunately, that was the last meal we got because her visit had come to an end. We drove her to the airport and said our sad goodbyes. We sure loved having her here and had a great time! (My only wish is that I would have taken more pictures of her visit! Sorry mom!)
...
Thank you mom, for all your kindness and generosity! You did way too much for us while you were here and we really appreciate it! We loved having you here. Please come back soon!
...
On Labor Day, Jeremy and I got to be super lazy...
(Funny how it's called labor day when we really didn't do any labor at all.)
...
I finally got to go to Powell's Sweet Shoppe! (A new candy store just down the street. I've been dying to go.) I thought it was awesome! Jeremy called it a sensory overload, but I think he enjoyed it. They had some really great candy. Check out this awesome candy bar:

(I should have gotten it.)

We each filled a bag with our favorite candies. Jeremy chose all black licorice. (yuck) But he wasn't very fond of a few of his choices...

Later on we played a round of golf. It was a small 9-hole course that you have to walk. (no golf carts!) I'm not too keen on getting any extra exercise than I absolutely have to, so I was a little bit concerned. But it wasn't too bad. The weather was perfect and it was really beautiful...

And it's pretty cheap! We'll definitely go back.

P.S. If you're wondering why the ball is still on the ground - this was Jeremy's practice swing. Honest. He's really good. I'm the one that takes "accidental" practice swings and an unlimited amount of mulligans!
