When the average person discovers a small bruise without realizing they hurt themselves they probably think, 'oh, no big deal.' Or if they get a headache, they take a couple pain relievers and call it good. Let's say a loved one gets a cough that sticks around for a little while longer than expected. Just a little cold, right? Well, not to me. Ever since I started nursing school, this little conspicuous bruise on the back of my leg
can only mean one thing. Leukemia. And a headache? Brain tumor. How about a persistent cough? Has to be lung cancer. And this isn't just a small annoyance to me, oh no. It very much affects the people around me. Poor Jeremy was so embarrassed when I told the doctor he must have lung cancer when his cough wouldn't go away. And my mom just got lectured the other day when I told her that since her mother had breast cancer, she was at a greater risk and demanded that she get a mammogram right away. I can only imagine what life is going to be like for our children. I have a feeling they will be more than just acquainted with their doctor. Poor kids.

Unfortunately, I am like that without the nursing classes. The only problem is that I don't what the diagnosis is I just think of all the bad things I have heard about and try and figure out what I am going to die from next. I have had a lot of close calls, I feel lucky to still be around.
If any one is a hypochondriac it is me. So welcome to the club. Secondly, you will always be more protective of your own kids. Their yours, you carried them for ten long months, and you feel such great responsibility for them. I say you are totally normal in my book.
No, I think I am the queen of the hypochondriacs. I think that I am dying right now as I'm typi....no, I'm ok. For now.
