Give Blood, Save a Life

At least that was the idea. Jeremy and I signed up to give blood at our stake's blood drive today. It turns out you have to weigh 110 lbs in order to donate. So as I'm writing this, Jeremy is currently saving a life with his wonderful O negative blood. I say wonderful because he is a universal donor, which means his blood can be given to anyone. (He's extremely valuable to have around. :) I'm disappointed that I didn't get to help, but I definitely wasn't looking forward to that HUGE 18 gauge needle going into my arm. (Although that seems kind of silly to say since I just did that to a patient a couple weeks ago. I just don't like being on the receiving end!) Anyway, I know how important donating blood is, so I'm super proud of my awesome hubby for doing such a great thing! (Even though I know he's secretly doing it for the cookies!)

For info on donating blood go to www.redcross.org.

I am not brave enough to give blood, so at least you walked into the building. I have never even gotten that far. But now that I think about it I don't think I weigh enough either....HAAAAAAA

I signed up and was so nervous all day, i went that night and I was excited (sadly) when they told me that I couldn't donate because I didn't have enough iron in my blood. It was the thought that counted right?

Of course! It's definitely the thought that counts. And you made the effort of going which counts even more! How did they know you didn't have enough iron in your blood?
